Beyoncé Knowles is an American all-star, an undeniable icon of this century whose music reaches people all over the world, a role-model to women everywhere, who look up to her and listen to her advices throughout her lyrics. Her multiple talents make her a complex artist: she is a singer, actress, songwriter, record producer, fashion designer and model.

A role-model is supposed to set an example. Beyoncé never claimed to be one, she proudly admits that she is not perfect, but this it what makes her different from all the other artists. She is not a size 0, but she doesn’t want to be either. On contrary, she promotes the “bootylicious” type of women. “Bootylicious” is a word that she invented when composing the lyrics of the song with the same name.

Therefore she encourages all the women with voluptuous shapes to embrace their look and to be proud of their body. Beyoncé’s ideas changed even the mentality of the fashion industry, which now creates fashion lines exclusively for over-sized women. The anorexic type of women is now viewed as unhealthy and Beyoncé is constantly advising teenagers and young women to accept their body and to develop a healthy lifestyle, not to starve themselves in order to be thin.

She is not only a role-model for women, but for all of us, due to her philanthropic and charity work. Along with her family and her former Destiny Child band mate, Kelly Rowland, she founded the Survivor Foundation, to help the victims of the Katrina Hurricane. She participates at charity events, where she either performs or donates money and in 2010 she was named the official face of the limited edition “Fashion For Haiti” T-shirt line, which raised 2 million dollars.

Regarding relationships, she is a role-model too. She has been in a relationship with the rapper Jay Z since 2002, who she married in 2008 and she is now expecting his baby. They are an example to all the couples out there of respect and love. They stayed out of trouble and they were never involved in scandals, as other famous couples are.

A multi-talented, multi-awarded, beautiful and intelligent woman as Beyoncé should always be considered a role-model, someone to look up to and to listen to.
