Beyonce Knowles’ Career and Activities in the Society

Beyonce Giselle Knowles is an outstanding female music icon in addition to being a role model to many. She was formally a member of the Destiny’s Child Group. She sings R&B and Hip-hop music. She has been awarded a variety of awards like Grammy awards in 2004 for the best female R&B vocal performance, also Brit awards as the best international female artist in 2004 and the list is endless.

Not only does Beyonce do music but she does other things on the side as well. She has a ready-to-wear modern women fashion line together with her mother called House of Dereon. House of Dereon reflects the Knowles’ experience as well as style. It is inspired by three generations of the Knowles women starting with their grandmother who was a seamstress.

Together with others she has founded the Survivor Foundation, it is an organization with the aim of housing people who were affected by hurricane Katrina in 2005 especially the ones living in Houston as well as Texas and their environs. Through Survivor Foundation she has helped victims of the hurricane Ike by organizing a fundraising where she donated $100,000.

She, together with the David Foster the music producer and his daughter Amy Foster-Gillies wrote the world children’s day anthem that is – “stand up for love” – which has been used in events that create awareness as well as raises finances for children causes all over the world. Together with Destiny’s Child group in which she was the solo singer, they became the World Children’s Day program ambassadors in 2005.

She has also worked together with Show Your Helping Hand Hunger Relief Initiative along with The General Mills Hamburger Helper with the aim of assisting to feed America where she encouraged her fans to bring non-perishable foods at her concert tour stops.
